DOWNLOADING AND ACTIVATING NOAA River Gage Site Maps for
certain states...
Print out this page first and follow
instructions carefully!!
STEP 1 - FIND THE FILE YOU NEED
When doing this step, you will be asked for
a name and password...use the confidential name and password you were given previously to
download Hurrevac for Win95/98/NT/2000/XP. Remember, case
of the name and password is important.
Using your internet browser call up the following
URL:
http://www.hurrevac2.com/private/gagemaps
If you are typing this URL in your browser, note that this URL is for hurrevac2.com and
not hurrevac.com.
Enter your user name and password when requested, as
explained above
Once you are in the Gage Maps directory, there will
be several state folders. Click on your state folder to find the
files you need
STEP 2 - DOWNLOAD TO YOUR PC -
To download, right-click on the file name and select Save
File As... or Save Link As...(depending on browser) then make a note of where you save it
on your PC. The file must be copied to the same drive as the one on which
your Hurrevac program resides (this is usually C: but could be another, you should
check)
STEP 3 - RUN THE DOWNLOADED FILE TO ACTIVATE
The .exe file you just downloaded must be run ON YOUR PC
by double-clicking on it in Windows Explorer. It must be run on the same
drive as your Hurrevac program resides or the gage files will not be
available. By default the files unzip to \Program
Files\Hurrevac2000\maps If your Hurrevac program is elsewhere,
then when the unzip program runs, edit the unzip target directory to the correct location
of your Hurrevac program and its \maps folder
The files will will activate when you copy them to the
correct folder (above) and are displayed when you call up the River Gage browser in
Hurrevac (use menu item Rain/River | River Gage Obs and Forecasts). When
you right-click on a displayed river gage circle the Hurrevac River Gage browser appears.
The River Gage map for a particular gage is
available only if a Map button appears on the River Gage Browser when you select
that gage. If none appears, and if you have correctly
unzipped the river gage map files in Step 3 above, then a map is not available
for that particular gage.
