HURREVAC2000 INSTALLATION PROBLEMS ON SOME OLDER WIN95 SYSTEMS  AND OTHER INSTALLATION PROBLEMS

ON SOME OLDER WIN95 MACHINES...

Some 486 computers and/or ones in which the Win95 system was installed in 1995 or early 96...the installation routine of HurWin95 halts when unable to install some .OCX or .DLL files.

Usually in these cases, a prompt asks whether you want to quit install, or ignore and continue the installation.

If you continue the installation, the HurWin95 or Hurrevac20000 program runs, and all seems ok but the Utilities |Raster Viewer will not work, citing an unregistered file or another such notice.

If the above describes your problem, then take the following steps.  If you are uncomfortable performing these steps, you may be better off letting an experienced computer user do this.

1. Look in your Windows\System directory for a file called MSVCRT.DLL

2. If the file MSVCRT.DLL is found, the problem is more complex. Contact support@hurrevac.com for help.

3. If the file is not found in your \Windows\System directory that may be the problem, try the following:

  1. Download the file MSVCRT.DLL from ftp://www.hurrevac.com/download to your computer and place it in the \Windows\System or \Windows\System32 directory (newer computers).
  2. Reboot your computer.
  3. If you previously aborted the HurWin95 / Hurrevac2000 Install, then retry Install.  If Install works this time, the problem is probably solved.
  4. If you went ahead with Install before in spite of the problem, run HurWin95 / Hurrevac2000 and try the Utilities |RasterViewer.  If that works, all should be ok.  If not, exit and Uninstall using Start |Settings...|Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs.  Then rerun HurWin95 / Hurrevac2000 Install.

OTHER POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WITH INSTALL/SETUP -

When you run installation, if you get a prompt saying that a certain .DLL file is in use and cannot be overwritten, it probably means that there are still programs running that are using that file. They may be hidden from view. At that point you can exit the Install and can close the running programs by using Ctrl-Alt-Del and choosing to close the programs shown on the Windows panel that appears.. Then continue with Install.

If you chose to continue the Install after the in-use error prompt ...and you responded with Ignore and continued installation....the HurWin95 or Hurrevac2000 program may still work ok (meaning the .DLL file on your system was up to date already). In particular, check Utilities | Raster Viewer in HurWin95 or Hurrevac2000 to see if it comes up, since so many .dll files are used by it. If Raster Viewer does not come up, then exit HurWin95 or Hurrevac2000 back to Windows, close all programs with Ctrl-Alt-Del and redo Install.

ERROR(S) IN INSTALL WHEN INSTALLING   LTOCX10N.OCX  file

This file is used to display graphics such as the   Utilities | Raster Graphics Viewer...and when saving  the screen to a graphic format file  in File | Print/Print to File...

If there is an error registering the LTOCX10N.OCX   file  it could be in the LTFIL10N.DLL file, which is needed in the registration process for the above .ocx file....the .dll file may not be up to date or for your computer.   We have provided an updated version of LTFIL10.DLL    here.  Use the current user name and password when asked.  Download the LTFIL10.DLL file to your   \Windows\System32  folder, reboot and then rerun the Hurrevac Setup.
